WALL STREET JOURNAL — Target Corp. said Friday that personal information, including names, mailing addresses, and phone numbers, of some additional 70 million customers were stolen during a data breach at the retailer over the holidays.
REUTERS/HUFFINGTON POST — Office equipment supplier Staples Inc said the investigation of a data security breach showed that malware may have affected about 1.16 million payment cards. The breach at 115 of the company’s 1,400 stores was announced in October. Staples said it has since eradicated the malware.
KREBS ON SECURITY — Sources at several U.S. financial institutions say they have traced a pattern of credit card fraud back to accounts that all were used at different Chick-fil-A fast food restaurants around the country. Chick-fil-A told KrebsOnSecurity that it has received similar reports and is working with IT security firms and law enforcement in an ongoing investigation.
FORTUNE — Women’s retailer latest to be stung by a cyberattack. Bebe Stores has confirmed a data breach hit the women’s retailer’s payments system over a two-and-a-half week period last month, the latest retailer stung by an attack that focused on obtaining payment card information.
